In this video we look at any specific prerequisite knowledge you should have going into this course, however there is not a lot that is needed, mostly basic computer and internet use skills. We also talk about how the instructors account is setup, and address some places where you may see differences between the training and how your NetSuite instance works. Finally we talk about course updates now and in the future.

In this lesson we cover steps that are often needed to configure a bundle after it has been installed. We use several bundles to do this including the File Drag and Drop bundle, the Sticky Notes bundle, and the Nolan Electronic Payments for NetSuite bundle. The steps required can include things such as reviewing internal or external help documentation, searching SuiteAnswers, looking in the File Cabinet and even exploring the components and scripts that make up a bundle.

In this lesson we cover the NetSuite calendaring and event scheduling system, which works similarly to calendaring systems such as those offered in Outlook or Google Calendar. This specific video covers events which are typically meetings or appointments. We cover single (one-time) and recurring events, as well as event statuses, address and location details, access, reminders, and organizer and attendee details. Finally, we take a look at resources and resource availability, related records, time tracking and file attachments for events.

In this lesson we cover leads, prospects and customer. We cover what each of these are, and when they should be used. We cover entering data for the record such as the name, sales rep, partner, category and subsidiary. We take a record through all three stages, lead, prospect then customer, and talk about the different stages and how to add, delete, edit or otherwise modify the stages and substages. We cover how the stages are used, and to manually and automatically go through the stages, and how the stages feed into prediction reports. Finally, we cover attaching activity records such as phone calls and events, adding shipping and billing information, territory assignment, and setting up financial payment terms.

In this lesson we go over reports that are important to marketing and web departments. We cover the Campaign ROI Analysis, Campaign Response and Sales by Lead Source reports which are mostly for marketing. We also cover Page Hits, Cart Abandonment, and Search Engine Keyword reports which are useful to web and ecommerce managers. In the reports we demonstrate using summary and detail versions of some reports, and using graphing options on others.

In this video we cover what NetSuite is. We talk about ERP systems in general, and how they can be used in improve business efficiency. We cover why you may want to use NetSuite, how it can be used to help manage your business, and some of what the system is capable of doing. We talk about the customization capabilities of the system, and how they can be used to make NetSuite work the way you need it to. Finally we talk about how the system works in the cloud on hosted servers, and how and why this frees your business to be more nimble.

In this video we cover manually updating bundles when the time arises. We cover how to know when bundles need to be updated either through the reminders portlet, or by looking at the installed bundles screen. Then we cover reviewing what the update will do, and performing the actual update, using the Avalara AvaTax bundle as the example. We cover how to handle changes that come with updates such as preserving, merging or overwriting data in lists and whether to update users’ dashboards or not during the update. Lastly we cover a few words of caution and recommendations when updating a bundle, including testing functionality, update cadence, and contingency plans.

In this video we take a look at tasks, which are similar to events, except that they generally don’t have a specific time set aside to work on. The do however have a due date, and we look at that and the other unique features of tasks here. We also cover task statuses, priorities, start dates, due dates, and assigning tasks to other employees. Finally we round out the lesson by looking at adding the tasks portlet to the home dashboard.

In this video we cover what contacts are, when you use them and how you use them. We cover creating a contact and populating it with data such as an email and phone number. We cover how contacts relate to other records in the system, and how to attach them to those other records either through the contact form, or from the related record. Finally, we talk about attaching activities and images to contacts, as well as setting contact categories.
